I went to madikeri /coorg last month . stayed in hotel hilltown .
Rooms are clean and well maintained. It’s very near from bus stand .
Note : - if you are looking for simple, quite, and good hotel then go for it. if you are looking for good view outside the window then don’t think abt it.
Usually cab will charge you for minimum 250 kms /per day + night stay ( 200 rs per night )
So in my case I paid for 750 kms ( 250km from Bangalore to coorg + 250km for site seeing around coorg )
Usually driver knows all good spots nearby coorg . You can easily save 8-10 k as compare to package deal.
Hey Zubair, There ia a very good Volvo bus that leaves Bangalore for Madkeri a little before midnight. It reaches Madkeri at about 5am....very comfortable ride....can book online at the ksrtc website. Plenty of homestay options are available around Madkeri to suit all pockets. Penny pinchers could contact shanti estate... a great estate....very basic accomodation, great food...one cottage accomodates upto 20 persons for just about 4000/day....food cost us about 200/day/ person ...great for college boys reunion. The hosts can arrange for the local siteseeing by taxi. Couples or families would prefer Pompei Velley Estate...more details of homestays are available elsewhere on this site.
We traveled by Shatabdi from Bangalore to Mysore. From Mysore you can take a bus or a taxi. We stayed in Siddapur, at a home stay called Raksh Cottage. Very decent and homely atmosphere at a very reasonable rates. You can book online. Have a good trip
